කඩවර දෙවියන්වහන්සේට අඛණ්ඩ භක්තියෙන් පූජා කරන හා ඔහු වෙනුවෙන් පින් කටයුතු කර පින් අනුමෝදම් කරන බැතිමතුන් සියලු නරක බලවේගවලින් ආරක්ෂාව ලැබේ, රැකි රක්ෂා හා ව්යාපාර දියුණු කරයි, රෝග සුව වීමට පිළියම් දෙයි, ඔවුන්ගේ සත්ය ප්රාර්ථනා ඉෂ්ට කරයි.

ශ්රී ලංකා රජු ධාතුසේනගේ (ක්රි.ව. 5 වන සියවස) රාජ්ය සමයේදී, විශාල කලා වැව ගොඩනගන ලද අවස්ථාවේදී කඩවර දෙවියන් උද්භව වූ බව පුරාණ කථාන්තර සඳහන් කරයි. ජලාශයේ දේව ආරක්ෂකයා ලෙස පත් වූ කඩවර දෙවියන්, ජලය රැකබලා සෞභාග්යය සහ සම්පත් සුරක්ෂිත කළේය.

History
God Kadawara is said to have emerged during the reign of Sri Lankan King Dhatusena (5th century CE), when the great Kala Wewa reservoir was built. God Kadawara was appointed as its divine protector, safeguarding the waters and ensuring prosperity.
God Kadawara sometimes is a benevolent god who helps the humans and, and at other times as a fierce spirit (yaksha) king who could grant dangerous wishes. This duality reflects the balance of fear and reverence.
